Elisabeth Pion, 2019

Elisabeth Pion 2019

Studying towards a Masters in Performance at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London – one of the leading performing arts institutions in the world – has provided Élisabeth Pion with the opportunity to discover her own artistic voice as a classical pianist.

In addition to working under the tutelage of leading British pianist Ronan O’Hora, Élisabeth has been able to engage in a variety of electives including Chamber Music and Classical Improvisation, as well as with cross-art projects in the acting department that will help spur her ambitions to enter the professional world of performing arts.

Described by her current tutor as someone whose playing “combines an impressive natural pianism with mature musical insight and a communicative and poetically eloquent musical voice,” Élisabeth has taken advantage of the different platforms and concert opportunities introduced by her school to perform and has played in Milton Court Hall twice, as well as the London Symphony Orchestra Discovery Lunch Concert.

Born and raised in Otterburn Park, Quebec, Élisabeth studied at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal where she received a Bachelor of music degree, obtained under the tutelage of Suzanne Goyette, and has been the recipient of a number of accolades and prizes for her performances, including winning the Shean Piano Competition in Edmonton for her performance of Rachmaninoff’s Third Concerto.

A proud Canadian, Élisabeth has a strong desire to be one of the next standard bearers of Canada in the performing arts field and make our country shine around the world. The CCSF has every confidence that she will accomplish this and are delighted to award her the Dasha Shenkman Scholarship for 2019 – 2020.
